Troubleshoot app issues on your Xumo TV

  • Updated

If an app freezes, crashes, becomes unresponsive or isn't working as expected, you can use troubleshooting options in your device settings to help resolve the issue.

In this article

In this article, you'll learn:

  • How to close or reset apps
  • How to reinstall an app

The troubleshooting options available depend on which version of the Xumo TV interface you have. Before you begin, identify your version so you can follow the correct steps below.

Xumo TV version

There are two ways to identify your version:

  1. Press the Settings button on your remote or scroll down to the Settings tile on your home screen.
    • If the first item in the Settings menu is Closed captions, select the Berry tab.
    • If the first item in the Settings menu is Picture and sound, select the Teal tab.
  2. Look for one of the following logos in the top-left corner of your TV screen:
    • If you see the Berry logo, select the Berry tab.
    • If you see the Teal logo, select the Teal tab.

Reset apps

If an app freezes, crashes, becomes unresponsive or isn't working as expected, first try closing all recent apps.

Close all recent apps
  1. Go to Settings > Apps and subscriptions.

If the issue continues, you can clear locally stored data.

Clear locally stored data

Note: Clearing locally stored data signs you out of all apps on your Xumo TV. You'll need to sign in to your apps again after completing these steps.

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Locally stored data.

How to close apps

Closing apps can help if an app:

  • Unexpectedly closes
  • Freezes
  • Stops responding to your remote
  • Has playback that becomes stuck
  • Runs slowly or has other performance issues.

Your app login information will be saved, but you'll need to open the app again after closing it.

Close apps
  1. Go to Settings > System management > Resets & updates.

All active and suspended apps will close without restarting your device. Open the app again to see if the issue is resolved.

If you're still having trouble with a specific app after closing apps, try reinstalling it.

How to reinstall an app

Reinstalling an app can help if it:

  • Repeatedly fails to open
  • Continues to have problems after closing apps
  • Isn't working correctly
  • Is experiencing storage-related issues

Note: Reinstalling an app clears its app data and returns it to a fresh state. You'll need to sign in to the app again the next time you open it.

Reinstall an app
  1. Go to Settings > System management > Resets & updates.

  2. Select Reinstall apps.

  3. Find the app you want to reinstall and select Reinstall.
