Why is my activation code not working?

Make sure you’re entering your 6-digit activation code displayed on-screen at the correct web address, xumo.com/activate.

If your activation code still isn’t working, complete a power cycle to generate a new one with the following instructions:

  1. Remove the power cable from your Xumo Stream Box.
  2. Remove the power cable from your TV.
  3. Wait 15 seconds, then plug both back in.
  4. Once your Xumo Stream Box has restarted, go to xumo.com/activate to enter the new activation code.

If you still haven't received a new activation code or the new code isn't working after trying these steps, reach out to Xumo customer support by selecting Start Chat at the bottom of this page to receive further assistance from a Xumo agent.

Note: Each activation code is valid for only 10 minutes.

What should I do if I see a specific error message on-screen?

If you see an error message on-screen, first check your internet strength by going to Settings > Network > Network connection.

If your WiFi connection is weak, restart your modem and try again to see if that resolves the error. For more detailed instructions on how to check your WiFi connection, you can refer to How do I check the WiFi connection on my Xumo Stream Box?

Tip: For a faster connection, use an Ethernet cord and avoid using hotspots.

What should I do if I’m having issues connecting to WiFi?

Confirm that you are using the correct password and try using an ethernet cord if issues persist. Visit How do I connect my Xumo Stream Box to the internet? for more help with WiFi issues.

The software update is taking a long time to finish. What should I do?

When connecting Xumo Stream Box for the first time, it may need additional time to finish downloading the latest software and could take up to 15 minutes. If the update is taking longer than this, try performing a power cycle:

  1. Unplug the power cable from the back of your Xumo Stream Box.
  2. Wait 15 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cable back in.

Allow your Xumo Stream Box to restart. It should then resume and complete the software update.

My Xumo Stream Box is showing a black screen. What should I do?

If your TV is showing a black screen or HDMI error, it's possible your device has entered standby mode. To wake it up:

  1. Press the btn_home_2.png button on your Xumo remote once and then wait for 15 seconds.

Important: Make sure to hold the Xumo remote close to the Xumo device with no obstructions while performing these steps. Do not hold the Home button down — just press and release.

If pressing the Home button doesn't resolve the problem, continue with the following steps:

  1. First, try connecting to HDMI-1 on Xumo Stream Box.
  2. Next, test your HDMI connection by connecting a different device to the same HDMI slot.
  3. Check if that device functions as expected. If not, there may be an issue with your HDMI connection.

Why is “Continue with Spectrum” not working?

You may already have a Xumo account set up with the same email address, resulting in an error message. Sign in with your existing Xumo credentials to continue.

Note: If selecting Continue with Spectrum does not take you to the Spectrum website to log in, try again in a few minutes in case there is a server error. Remember, you can always create your account through Xumo if you’d prefer to proceed right away. If you do, you will always need to sign in to your Xumo account with your email and password, rather than signing in via your Spectrum account.
