Connect your Xumo Stream Box to the internet during activation
During the Xumo Stream Box activation process, you’ll be prompted to connect your Stream Box to the internet. Follow the step-by-step instructions on your screen.
Note: You can also use an Ethernet cable (not included) to set up a wired connection instead. If you use an Ethernet cord, make sure everything is plugged in securely.
Check your WiFi status
Keep your streaming smooth and uninterrupted by monitoring your WiFi connection strength. Knowing your connection status helps you troubleshoot issues like buffering or freezing before they impact your viewing experience.
To view your current WiFi connection:
- Go to Settings
- Select Network
- Choose Network connection
In Network connection, your WiFi status will be displayed as one of the following results:
- Excellent
- Good
- Fair
- Bad
- Disconnected
Note: If you are connected to the internet via Ethernet, your status will show as either Connected or Disconnected.

Troubleshooting internet connection issues on your Xumo Stream Box
If you are having trouble connecting or experiencing buffering, freezing, or audio issues, follow these steps to identify and fix the problem.
Step 1: Use the on-screen help
For tips on improving your connection, select Help on the Network connection screen.
Step 2: Fix WiFi password errors
Your Xumo Stream Box won't connect if the password is incorrect. Make sure you’ve selected the correct network name (SSID) and entered the right password. Remember, passwords are case sensitive.
Step 3: Check your modem or router
Confirm that your modem or router is connected to the internet. An easy way to check is to see if you can access the internet on a phone, computer, or other device.
- If other devices can connect to the network, try restarting your modem or router.
- If the connection speed seems slow, you can try to improve the signal strength by moving your modem or router closer to the device, or work with your internet service provider on improving the signal in your home.
Step 4: Troubleshoot mobile hotspot connections
Make sure your hotspot has a good connection and can be connected by other devices like computers.
- If it is connected and the speed seems slow, try restarting your mobile hotspot.
- If the speed doesn’t improve or the stream box isn’t able to connect, connect the stream box to another network either through a WiFi or Ethernet connection, as the Stream Box may have a compatibility issue with your hotspot connection.
