A reliable internet connection lets you enjoy all your streaming content without interruptions. This guide shows you how to set up your WiFi, monitor your connection strength, and quickly fix common issues so you can get back to watching what you love.

Connect your Xumo Stream Box to the internet during activation
During the Xumo Stream Box activation process, you’ll be prompted to connect your Stream Box to the internet. Follow the step-by-step instructions on your screen.
Note: You can also use an Ethernet cable (not included) to set up a wired connection instead. If you use an Ethernet cord, make sure everything is plugged in securely.
Access your Network settings
After activation, you can manage your WiFi connection from the Network settings.
- Press the Quick Access (…) button on your remote, scroll right to Settings, then press OK.
- Scroll right to Network, then press OK.
From here, you can check your WiFi status, reconnect to a network, or connect to a different network.
Check your WiFi status
Keep your streaming smooth and uninterrupted by monitoring your WiFi connection strength. Knowing your connection status helps you troubleshoot issues like buffering or freezing before they impact your viewing experience.
From Network, select Network connection to view your current WiFi status. Your connection will display as one of the following:
- Excellent
- Good
- Fair
- Bad
- Disconnected
Note: If you are connected to the internet via Ethernet, your status will show as either Connected or Disconnected.
Reconnect to a disconnected WiFi network
If your WiFi displays as Disconnected:
- From Network, select Network connection.
- Select WiFi using password.
- Select your network and enter the password.
Connect to a different WiFi network
To switch to a different WiFi network:
- From Network, select Network connection.
- Select Reset, then select Confirm.
- Select WiFi using password.
- Select your new network and enter the password.
Troubleshooting internet connection issues on your Xumo Stream Box
If you are having trouble connecting or experiencing buffering, freezing, or audio issues, follow these steps to identify and fix the problem.
Step 1: Use the on-screen help
For tips on improving your connection, select Help on the Network connection screen.
Step 2: Fix WiFi password errors
- Make sure you selected the correct network name (SSID) and entered the correct password. WiFi passwords are case sensitive.
Step 3: Check your modem or router
- Check whether another device, like your phone or computer, can connect to the internet.
- If other devices can connect, try restarting your modem or router.
- If your connection is slow, move your modem or router closer to your Xumo Stream Box or contact Spectrum for help improving your signal.
Step 4: Troubleshoot mobile hotspot connection
- Check that your mobile hotspot is connected and working with another device.
- If the connection is slow, restart your mobile hotspot.
- If your Xumo Stream Box still can't connect, try using a different WiFi network or Ethernet connection.
