Using Bluetooth devices allows you to watch TV without disturbing others, enjoy enhanced audio quality, or move around while staying connected to your entertainment. Once paired, the devices will automatically reconnect.
In this article, you'll learn:
- How to par a new Bluetooth device
- How to manage your Bluetooth devices
- How to troubleshoot and fix common Bluetooth problems
First, identify which version of the Xumo TV interface you have. This will help ensure you follow the correct steps for your device.
There are two ways to identify your version:
- Press the
button on your remote or scroll down to the Settings tile on your home screen.
- If the first item in the Settings menu is Closed captions, follow the instructions for the Berry version.
- If the first item in the Settings menu is Picture and sound, follow the instructions for the Teal version.
- Look for one of the following logos in the top-left corner of your TV screen:
Once you've identified your version, follow the corresponding instructions below.
How to pair your Bluetooth device
Before you start, make sure your Bluetooth speaker or headphones are turned on and ready to connect (this is called "discoverable mode"). You may need to refer to your Bluetooth device's user manual for pairing instructions.
Berry version: Steps to pair your Bluetooth device
- On your Xumo TV, go to Settings > Picture and sound > Audio settings > Bluetooth devices.
- Select Scan for available devices.
- When your device name appears on screen, select Connect.
- Your device is now connected and ready to use.
Teal version: Steps to pair your Bluetooth device
- On your Xumo TV, go to Settings > Connected devices > Bluetooth devices.
- Select Add new device.
- When your device name appears on screen, select Connect.
- Your device is now connected and ready to use.
Managing your Bluetooth devices
Disconnect your device
Disconnecting your Bluetooth device temporarily switches the sound back to your TV speakers while keeping your device saved for future use. This is useful for situations where you need to use the paired speaker or headphones with another device temporarily, then quickly reconnect to your TV later without going through setup again.
- Berry version: Go to Settings > Picture and sound > Audio settings > Bluetooth devices, select your device, then choose Disconnect.
- Teal version: Go to Settings > Connected devices > Bluetooth devices, select your device, then choose Disconnect.
Forget your device
Forgetting a device permanently removes it from your TV. Use this option when you no longer plan to use that speaker or headphones with your Xumo TV. This prevents your TV from trying to connect to devices you're not using anymore.
- Berry version: Go to Settings > Picture and sound > Audio settings > Bluetooth devices, select your device, then choose Forget this device.
- Teal version: Go to Settings > Connected devices > Bluetooth devices, select your device, then choose Forget this device.
Note for the Teal version: You'll also see an Auto-connect off option under Manage devices. This stops automatic connections but keeps your device saved so you can manually connect it whenever you want.
Troubleshooting your Bluetooth device
If your Bluetooth device is having trouble connecting or pairing, try these two common solutions:
Solution 1: Power cycle your TV
If your device won't pair or connect due to a general glitch, complete the following steps:
- Unplug your Xumo TV from the power outlet.
- Wait 3 minutes.
- Plug your TV back in.
- Try pairing your device again.
This process clears temporary connection issues and often resolves pairing glitches
Solution 2: Forget and repair
If a previously connected device won't reconnect, go to the Bluetooth devices list, select the device name, and choose Forget. This clears old connection data. Then, restart the initial pairing process.
