Xumo TVs include a variety of accessibility features designed to make the viewing experience more inclusive and user-friendly.
To see an overview of what’s available, first identify which version of the Xumo TV interface you have. This will help ensure you follow the correct steps for your device.
There are two ways to identify your version:
- Press the
button on your remote or scroll down to the Settings tile on your home screen.
- If the first item in the Settings menu is Closed captions, follow the instructions for the Berry version.
- If the first item in the Settings menu is Picture and sound, follow the instructions for the Teal version.
- Look for one of the following logos in the top-left corner of your TV screen:

Once you've identified your version, follow the corresponding instructions below.
Berry version: Accessibility features
To customize your TV's accessibility features, go to Settings > Accessibility. Your Xumo TV's accessibility features include:
- Closed captions display dialogue on your TV during movies and shows when using an antenna. You can customize caption appearance with Closed caption settings as well. by scrolling down to Closed caption settings after you’ve toggled the Closed captions feature On.
- Audio Description (AD) narrates supported programs with audio descriptions of key visuals while using an antenna.
- Voice Guidance reads what’s on your TV’s screen including menus, guides, and settings. You can adjust the Voice Guidance speech rate as well.
- Set remote shortcut so you can quickly turn on or off Closed captions, Audio Description (AD), or Voice Guidance by pressing the gear icon (located directly below the power button) on your remote twice.
- Magnify text enlarges screen text in a highlighted window.
You can turn Closed captions, Voice Guidance, and Audio Description (AD) on and off with your voice by saying “Closed Captions,” “Voice Guidance,” or “Audio description” into your remote.
Note: Voice commands only work if your TV is connected to the Internet. Learn how to connect your TV to the internet.
Teal version: Accessibility features
To customize your TV's accessibility features, go to Settings > Accessibility. Your Xumo TV's accessibility features include:
- Audio description allows you to hear additional commentary that describes the action in the program, if available. Toggle feature On/Off based on preference.
- Beep on audio description allows your to hear a beep if the channel you are watching is showing an audio description program. Toggle feature On/Off based on preference.

Closed captions will display the dialogue on your TV during movies or shows when available.
Toggle feature On/Off based on preference. - Customized caption style will allow you to change the caption text size, font, background color around text, window color around text and background and Opacity. When set to ON you can manage settings on TV. Feature Toggles on/off.
- Highlight programs will highlight programs in the TV guide which has closed captions an/or audio descriptions. You can customize to show none, one or all.
- High contrast makes text easier to read. Toggle feature On/Off based on preference.
- Voice guidance will describe supported content on screen audibly. When turned on you can manage voice guidance speed and turn on hints to read out additional content not shown on screen to make voice guidance even simpler. Toggle feature On/Off based on preference.
- Screen magnifier will make the menu bigger so that the text is easier to read. When turned on, you can zoom in and out by pressing 5 and 0, and move around by pressing 2, 4, 6 and 8. Feature Toggles on/off.
